I just watched a video on Yahoo about a blogger who was detained by the FBI because one of his neighbors reported him as a suspected terrorist after 9/11. The blogger, Hasan Elahi, had a storage unit rented in Florida, which a neighbor reported to the FBI as being filled with explosives. The neighbor stated that the storage unit had been emptied just after 9/11 by a man fitting Elahi’s description and that they had fled the area. So, acting on this tip, the FBI detained Elahi as he was coming home from an overseas trip.
So, after all was said and done, Elahi was cleared and the issue was resolved. But Hasan was left paranoid that it may happen again. So now Hasan photographs and documents everything he does, meals he eats, places he goes, etc. He keeps records of everything and posts it all on his website.
Hasan in the Yahoo! video states that he now keeps track of his life and records everything because he is afraid that the FBI may “come after” him again.
I honestly don’t understand why this guy is taking out his frustrations on the FBI. They were simply following up on a tip… like they’re supposed too!!!
Seriously. So, according to Hasan Elahi, if someone witnessed a crime and reported it, but nothing came out of it, the “suspect” should start documenting his or her life too? Or maybe they should just never go outside anymore for fear that the FBI will be waiting for them to break the law.
The only person that Mr. Elahi should be upset with is the retarded, over-eager, self-righteous neighbor that called him in in the first place. I guarantee that he’s not the only person that the FBI looked at because of his stupid neighbor.After 9/11, there were so many retarded people who thought that they were self-appointed FBI agents. Now, don’t get me wrong, I can understand a certain level doing your civic duty and keeping anything out for suspicious activities. Keep in mind I said suspicious activities and not “any-Muslim-person-walking-across-the-street”.
I think that Hasan Elahi should quit trying to gain all of this attention, quit filling the internet with crap that no one cares about, and get on with his life. If he’s not doing anything illegal, then he has nothing to worry about.
